Amma Violence And Corruption In Rolling Stone Magazine 2012

Expose of the physical violence and financial corruption of Amma Amritanandamayi in "The Big Squeeze: The Guru Who Turns Hugs Into Gold" by David Amsden for Rolling Stone magazine [August 16, 2012. Issue 1163]. Amma's first, closest Western devotee, Gayatri who was later renamed Swamini Amritaprana after be admitted into Amma's inner circle describes beating by Amma upon herself and others. Amma siphoned off money and gold to her six siblings and parents allowing them to obtain luxury palatial houses. Amma's current devotees deny the allegations but their denials are suspicious as we have seen with the Amma Rishi Taavi Kassila sex scandal cover-up involving fake celibacy, genital herpes and attempted seduction of minors.

Gayatri (Swamini Amritaprana), who was with Amma for 20 years, smuggled out under a blanket in 1999, kept silent until 2012, is writing a book currently titled  “For The Love of God: A Memoir Of Faith, Devotion And Pure Madness”.

Update 8/23/2012:  "The Big Squeeze: The Guru Who Turns Hugs Into Gold" is free for online readers.

Kamal Bijlani is another Ammachi 'celibate' monk scandal who cheated on his first wife and had a 2 year sexual affair. Amma's management knew this and he was promoted.

It is an outrage that Amma makes a mockery of sannyas vows. No surprise to learn that Amma herself takes drugs and wears incontinence pants to prolong her money making hugging sessions.

I was in Amma's ashram when Gayatri/Gail was, and am not surprised at her recent antics. Back then in 1996-99, she loved to get a lot of attention and cultivated a clique around herself. She loudly yelled at me 'NO--GET OUT!' when i showed up for an appointment with her, and I was lucky to get even a glance from her. She was critical of Amma back then. On two occasions, from my room, I heard her yelling at Amma in a really mean way. She said unkind things about Amma to me, when I was a new ashramite, which seemed strange. She acted so tired, but that was because she jealously guarded her position close to Amma by keeping control and with that control, only letting people from her clique near. She hasn't been so much in the limelight for many years so she is writing these things about Amma. Amma is a saint who people have a lot of affection for, and faith in. She has made so many lives so much better. It shows a great lack of discretion to attack someone so beautiful.

hat does it matter if Amma wears incontinence pants and takes pain killers? She is now a senior citizen with an aging human body. As for her family receiving benefits, that is how it works in India. Wealth flows back up the family tree. Plus, they deserve compensation since the surrounding village and devotees have totally taken over the family's land and home. Amma is devoted to selflessly serving humankind. She works hard. She is non-judgmental. She gives millions of dollars every year to charity, schools, hospitals, homes, and natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina. Get a hug and see what happens. By the way, it is free. No money is needed, just patience. It takes hours and hours and hours for her to hug thousands of people.

The alternative view is that Amma is a bitch who steals her devotee's lives and possessions. She does it for the fame. Lady Gaga is a better performer than 'Mother' Amma the holy cow who physically abuses her followers.

The above statement shows that the AMMA is being controlled. So who are real players directing this drama, in which she is playing whatever role assigned to her.Does the clique still control her? Only Gayathi has gone from the clique what about others? It shows how much distrust the cult has internally. Back stabbing, falsehood, bitching, jealousy, power hungry. everything nasty goes there. So someone forced to commit suicide??? someone forced to kill???? Is it a spiritual place a mean street?????? may be all these are part of the CHAMATKAR (miracle)

I know personally an Amma devotee in MA who was refused ashram because he is gay. I have witnessed racial bias as well in Amma Satsangs. You are not welcome to ask questions about finances or where your money goes. Amma had no guru, and as such, cannot be a guru by Hindu law, so she is a heretic, or apostate at best. You are not welcome to confront this issue in Amma Satsangs. Amma said not to spend much money travelling to see her, but all devotees do is fly around on planes everywhere. We pray for the earth, but you are not welcome to discuss energy conservation. You are not welcome to discuss rationale for retaining SOME traditional Hindu hierarchies while ignoring other traditions and laws. You are not welcome to ask about Amma's celibacy or the rumours she has a son. Rich devotees get access to power where poor devotees are treated as underlings. If you question anything that you are not welcome to question, you are excluded immediately and messages are circulated against you. Secrets are kept from most devotees and shared with the inner circles. Hostile treatment and personal attacks are in store for anyone who stands their ground and demands answers about: where did my money go? what Hindu laws are observed and which ones are ignored? who do I go to if I have a complaint about mistreatment? I personally know longtime devotees who gave years to support Amma in every way who have been verbally abused, pushed aside, and threatened to keep their mouths shut. I know devotees who were told to leave classes for objecting to racist, sexist, and elitist statements being made in a public forum. Oh, there's lots more. . . .
